‘Dining Beyond Expectations’ and ‘Taste the Flavour’ are the two founding principles that Bob & Mary Macfarlane adopted when they started Mac’s STEAKHOUSE in 2001.
We wanted customers to leave saying WOW! That was great! That the overall experience exceeded all expectations. That the flavours were ‘to die for’.
Fast forward to 2014 and we have just undergone a name change from Mac’s STEAKS to Mac’s food & wine to meet the changing eating trends that have developed in NZ over recent years.
Our Chefs are passionate about ‘taste’ and again on this menu have combined flavours and textures for each dish with careful deliberation and consideration. Underlining all of this, our Head Chef, Mike Walker, insists:
all meats and fish are fresh
all jus, dressings and sauces are made in house
where products are bought in whole, we use hand- made and artisan products
all desserts are created and made in house
we use fresh seasonal vegetables and fruits
The Chefs extensive wine consultation with wine makers and experienced palettes in conjunction with Mary and Bob’s support, have recommended wines to compliment or contrast and enhance flavours of the food. As a consequence we are carrying some of New Zealand’s most interesting boutique wines, (winery or cellar sourced), sold by the glass, to tickle your fancy.
Our lunches are light and tasty (exquisite salads) and can be complimented with our range of organic, low-to-nil-sugar juices, or our mix of craft and leading beers.
